Vasan Healthcare Group is one of the health care groups in India. Founded by A. M. Arun, the group is based in Tiruchi and has 120 eye care hospitals and 30 dental care hospitals across India, including two multi-speciality hospitals in Tiruchi. Vasan Eye Care Hospitals are day-care centres for treating eye ailments. The corporate office of the hospital is located in Chennai.
Vasan Medical Centre, a drug store, was established in Tiruchi in 1947. A. M. Arun, the founder of Vasan Healthcare Group, took over the shop in 1991, established a diagnostic centre and laboratory and later founded two multi-speciality hospitals in Tiruchi. He started the group's first eye care hospital in 2002 in Tiruchi.

SANKARA NETHRALAYA
HISTORY:
In 1976 when addressing a group of doctors, His Holiness Sri JayendraSaraswathi, the Sankaracharya of the KanchiKamakotiPeetam spoke of the need to create a hospital with a missionary spirit. On the command of His Holiness Dr. SengameduSrinivasaBadrinath, with a group of philanthropists founded a charitable not-for-profit eye hospital. In a solemn function held at the premises of the Vijaya Hospital with SemmangudiSrinivasaAiyer offering the prayer, Dr. T Agarwal inaugurated the project.
CHENNAI:
On the auspicious day of VinayakaChaturthi, 6 September 1978, the hospital came into existence. It was named SankaraNethralaya, which means "The Temple of the Eye".
Today SankaraNethralaya has its services running at five locations in Chennai and has services at Mukundapur in Kolkata, Hebbal in Bengaluru, Rameshwaran and Tirupati in Andhra Pradeshhas plans to expand in more states and possibly other countries.
