Ampa Skywalk mall(Arumbakkam) today. It is interesting to note that PVR cinemas
is being opened in Chennai after a 3 years delay due to Economic turmoil and
other aspects. One important thing to be noted is how PVR cinemas are going to
cope up with the prices. In Chennai, the prices of a ticket cannot exceed
Rs.120(USD 2.5) and in Bangalore the ticket rates during weekend touches nearly
Rs.600(USD 13).*PVR Cinemas one of the pioneers in Multiplex theatres in India, has recently launched in Chennai at the Ampa Skywalk Mall in Nelson Manikam Road. The PVR Cinema offers 7 screens with comfortable seats to enjoy the movie and releax. Another venture of Satyam cinemas is the Escape cinemas that has come up in the Express Avenue Mall, Royapettah that has got 8 screens of names Spot, Kites, Blush, Carve, Frame, Plush, Streak and Weave.
Sathyam Cinemas claim that Escape is the Chennai's first luxury multiplex. The total area is 40,000 sq ft and there are 8 cinema screens and a private dining lounge in each screen. has a good ambiance, the washrooms are spic and span too but there is no enough
leg space between rows and the seats are quite low too. If the movie is over a
two and a half hours long, your legs are definitely going to hurt. There are
only three ticket counters and is always queued.
