    History:
The PSBB School in Nungambakkam was established in 1958 by a group of housewives of the Nungambakkam Ladies Recreation Club. There were 13 students in a thatched shed on the terrace of the residence of the Dean and Director of the school, Dr. (Mrs.) Y.G. Parthasarathy. Today the school has six branches (including PSBB Millennium) with over 8000 students and 500 staff members.
In 1959, one year after its inception, the school shifted to a campus of its own at the present premises in Nungambakkam. It followed the Madras Matriculation System unit of Madras University. As the school grew in strength, the need to extend its branches arose and thus emerged the T.P.Road Junior School in 1971, as an annex to the school in Nungambakkam. In 1978, the school was affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
In 1976 another branch of the PSBB School, affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, was started in a residential area of K.K.Nagar with 5-acre (20,000 m2) surroundings. The K.K.Nagar branch has seen 30 batches pass out. PSBB adopted the shift system in the 1970s and 1980s,to satisfy the growing demands of the residents of the city. PSBB has been visited by (former) President of India A.P.J.Abdul Kalam. The K.K.Nagar branch is one of the biggest schools in the city.
In 2010, Mrs Y.G. Parthasarathy, Dean of the PSBB Schools, received the prestigious Padma Shri from the Government of India in Education and Literature.

In 2011, the PSBB group of schools, headquartered at Nungambakkam was ranked first in the South zone and came third in India under the Day Schools Category as per the EducationWorld - C Fore Survey 2011.

THE SCHOOL - KRISHNAMURTI FOUNDATION INDIA

    History:
The School was started in the year 1973. Today it is a full-fledged day boarding, co-educational school with students in Junior , Middle and Senior school, with various distinctive programmes at all levels

The school is located in a spacious campus in Adyar made available by The Theosophical Society. This privileged location permits rare opportunities to be with nature - ancient trees and vast spaces, communicating a sense of beauty and silence.
The school has an ambience that has been created for meaningful, interactions between adults and students to happen. The school has about 350 students and 35 teachers.
    Founder:
Jiddu Krishnamurti was born on 11 May 1895 in a pious family of Madanappale town in Andhra pradesh. He was adopted in his youth by Dr Annie Besant, the President of the Theosophical Society, which had its international headquarters at Madras. Dr Besant and others proclaimed that Krishnamurti was to be the vehicle of the World Teacher, whose coming the Theosophists had predicted. The World Teacher, according to various scriptures, takes a human form time to time to bring salvation to mankind. To prepare the world for the event, an organisation called the Order of the Star in the East was formed in 1911 with the young Krishnamurti as its head. In the same year, he was taken to England to be privately educated and trained for his future mission.
In 1922, Krishnamurti underwent certain mystical experiences that altered his vision of life. A few years later, he renounced the role that he was expected to play, dissolved the Order with its huge following, and gave up all money and property collected for this work. In a historic speech in 1929, he explained why religious organisations cannot lead man to Truth. He declared that his intentional was not to found new religions but to set man unconditionally free.
Then, for more than fifty years, until his passing away on 17 February 1986, he travelled all over the world giving public talks and private interviews, speaking, writing, and holding dialogues, not as a guru but as a lover of truth. These have been compiled into several books, translated into all the major languages of the world, and recorded on audio and videotapes.
Long recognized as one of the world's foremost religious teachers, Krishnamurti dedicated his life to awakening man to his own sorrow and the possibility of freedom. Staying nowhere for more than a few months at a time, he considered himself as not belonging to any country or religion. Over the years, his annual gatherings at Ojai in California, Saanen in Switzerland, Brockwood Park in England, and several cities in India attracted thousands of people of different nationalities, occupations and outlooks. He impressed upon his listeners the importance of self-knowledge, as that alone would set them free from the bondage of theor conditioning - from their prejudices, hurts, fears, loneliness, and sorrow. He urged them to examine the workings of their own minds, and asked enduring questions about the source of all problems, the nature of the human mind, and the significance of creation itself.

Parents are requested to supervise packing, which is best done by the children, but instead to carefully supervise so that necessary items are remembered and unnecessary items are not included. When students label and pack their own supplies and equipment, they have more of a sense of what they are taking and how to keep track of their things. Students must not bring expensive articles, food items of any description and music systems (other things like games, chewing gum, cameras etc.) on such trips. The school must be informed of any special medication that the student is under. This needs to be packed along with clear instructions.

    Symposium
The symposium grew out of a deeply felt need for non-competitive, yet meaningful interaction between the school and other schools in the city. This annual event was envisioned as a forum for students of different schools to engage on issues of social and contemporary relevance. It provides a platform for students to enquire, discuss, raise questions and voice their opinions. DON BOSCO

    History:
This School was founded in 1959 as a Matriculation School affiliated to the University of Madras and it obtained its recognition vide letter p.A983 dated 19.03.1959.  From 13th November 1978 it came under the jurisdiction and recognition of a separate Board of Matriculation Schools.  On 1st July 1978 it was upgraded as a Higher Secondary School and recognition was granted to the Higher Secondary Section by the Director of School Education in his proceedings.

Saint John Bosco, commonly known as Don Bosco, was an Italian Catholic priest who dedicated his life to the education of young boys. He was born at Becchi, near Turin, in Northern Italy, on 16th August 1815.
Don Bosco was kept away from regular schooling because of many difficulties. His father died when he was two and so his poor family needed his services at the farm. Bosco’s elder stepbrother opposed all his plans of getting even an elementary education. Yet through sheer dint of will power and the help of many a generous heart, he got himself educated to support himself. At this time he worked at odd jobs – all of which he later taught his orphans.
After he became a priest in 1841, he expanded his work for poor and abandoned boys. Born and bred in poverty and having grown up among boys who, for want of a decent home, lived in the streets, he understood well their yearning for food and love which were never adequately satisfied in their homes.
To cater to the needs of such boys, he started an ‘Oratory or Boys Club’ open to all the boys who wished to spend their time usefully. In order to prepare boys for skilled labour, in 1853, Don Bosco turned his mother Margaret’s Kitchen into a make – shift cobbler and carpenter shop. This was the first Catholic trade school in Italy.
With the dedicated group of followers who gathered around him, he was able to help the street urchins to become honest citizens and God-fearing men.
To win the hearts of the youngsters he used “The Preventive System”. Don Bosco explained it as a happy blend of reason, religion and loving kindness. In fact when asked about the secret of his immense success with youngsters, he simply answered
    “Love”.
To continue the work that he had started he founded in 1859, a religious society of priests and brothers, known as Salesians (SDB). They are a group of persons set apart within the Catholic Church for the education of youth, especially the poor and the abandoned. To spread his work to needy girls, with the help of Saint Mary Mazzarello, he founded a society of nuns called “The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians” (FMA), in 1872 commonly known as Salesian Sisters. Besides these two, in 1876, he founded a third spiritual family called “The Union of Salesian Co-operators” a group of men and women, married or unmarried who, without becoming priests or nuns would work for youth in the spirit of Don Bosco.
When he died on 31st January 1888, his parting message was typical of him, “Tell my boys, I am waiting for them in heaven”.
    Vision Statement
Don Bosco School stands for the integral development of the student – to help develop the student's spirit, mind and body.

Further this movement also lends a helping hand to the children of the nearby corporation school by distributing uniforms, notebooks and other furniture to them. Road Safety Patrol
The Road Safety Patrol (RSP) is an important educational campaign launched towards educating school children about the importance of Road Safety, traffic rules and regulations by way of direct participation and voluntary acting involvement. The usage of the foot over bridge was made compulsory by implementing new rules and regulations. Training sessions for March Past were held on Saturdays. The RSP is an organization comprising of selected boys from various schools and educational institutions who play an important role in preventing road accidents by regulating traffic in and around the vicinity of their respective schools. As RSP cadets these boys help in maintaining order and discipline among the school children during the peak traffic hours of morning and evening, when the school sessions begin and end. The cadets undergo training covering all the basic aspects regarding traffic safety. Today, we have about 5000 school children from various schools spread over Chennai city enrolled in RSP. Under the guidance of our C.O.P (Commissioner of Police), Joint Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police, the Road Safety Patrol are now making inroads into corporation schools also.

Junior Red Cross groups were first organized in 1926 in Punjab followed by other states. The Principles of JRC are Health, Service, Friendship. Junior Red Cross is based on the three-fold programme namely Protection of health and life, Service to others and International Friendship. These activities help young people to develop their mental and moral capabilities to the fullest, the result being that they become good citizens. The youth unit aims to have young people recognized by societies leadership as equal partners who address the vulnerable.
